Is the battery safe?
Yes. We use high-quality cells that have passed UN 38.3 stress testing (vibration, thermal shock, etc.) and meet UL standards for lithium batteries.
How does the battery backup work?
The LB1 doesn't auto-detect on/off at the bulb level. The light has its own battery and you control it directly with a remote, so you decide when it’s on or off during an outage. No guessing, no wiring quirks and your battery stays full until you need it!
Can I control the backup light?
Yes. Each LB1 includes a remote that lets you manually turn the backup light on or off to conserve battery life—especially useful when multiple units are installed.
Does it work like a normal downlight?
Yes. Under normal conditions, the LB1 functions like a standard high-quality LED downlight. The battery remains charged in the background.
Why not Bluetooth or an app?
We explored Bluetooth, but pairing devices or confirming connections during an outage can be inconvenient. A physical remote is faster, more reliable, and can be stored in emergency kits for instant access.
What warranty does the Lumo LB1 include?
The Lumo LB1 comes with a 5 year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects and normal use. Full warranty details will be provided before shipping.
Is Lumo LB1 Certified?
Yes. The Lumo LB1 is designed to meet all required safety and electrical standards for its target markets. We are pursuing ETL, ROHS and FCC certifications (or regional equivalents) and will only ship once certification is complete.
Is the battery safe?
Absolutely. The built-in battery includes multiple safety protections, including overcharge, over-discharge, and thermal protection, and is fully enclosed within the fixture.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
The retrofit can version can be installed yourself and features a simple, tool-less installation. For the canless version, we recommend installation by a licensed professional, especially for new installs or ceiling cutouts.
Does the remote require wiring or setup?
No wiring is required. The remote uses a simple one-time setup to sync with your lights. Each LB1 has a sync button, allowing you to assign lights to up to 8 different zones, with as many lights as needed per zone. Clear setup instructions will be included with every package for quick and easy configuration.
